For some families and individuals in Cooke County hope comes down to having the basic necessities.
For many, the most pressing need is for food.
Residents have a chance to help a local organization is working to end hunger in the community during an online contest.
GreatNonprofits.org is conducting a contest to find the top-rated nonprofits working to curttail homelessness or hunger.
Users simply log on to the site to share their stories.
Some residents have already posted their remarks on the site.
A VISTO board member who declined to identify herself, called VISTO, “the most influential mission center for our city and county.”
The member went on to describe some of the things she loves about VISTO.
One of those things is the agency’s knack for helping struggling families.
Asked what results she has seen in the community, the board member said, “Seeing families (particularly single mothers) find emergency care which gives them hope to face another day.
