Farm Bureau calls for scholarship applicants

Texas Farm Bureau invests large amounts of money and time in developing youth leadership. Each year, more than $80,000 in scholarships are awarded through participation in a variety of contests, seminars and by applications. The Cooke County Farm Bureau would like to announce the upcoming scholarships which are offered to all college-bound high school seniors. Applications for each of these programs are available through the high school counslors office, the Cooke County Farm Bureau office, and online at www.txfb.org by clicking ion Youth Activities. The Young Farmer and Rancher - Each year, proceeds from the Young Farmer & Rancher activities are used to award scholarships to high school sneiors who intend to pursue a college degree in agriculture. There will be one $1,000 scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded $500 per semester for two semisters. To be eligible for this scholarship you must be a Farm Bureau member-family and a graduating senior.

Dick Mitchell Memorial Scholarship- This scholarship, started in 1991, and is in memory of former Field Representative and Field Service Director Dick Mitchell. The recipient must be a Farm Bureau member-family and must have attended the Youth Leadership Conference. Applicant must be a confirmed junior or senior in high in order to qualify for the scholarship.

Texas Farm Bureau Agriculture Research and Education Foundation- In May 2010, the Texas Farm Bureau Agriculture Research and Education Foundation will award two scholarships to a student graduation from high school in Spring 2010 and entering college in Fall 2010, whose parents have been a member of the Texas Farm Bureau since at least March 14, 2008. This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of grades/GPA, standardized test scores, extracurricular activities, family financial need, and potential to succeed to post secondary educational goals.

The Young Farmer & Rancher Scholarship- This scholarship is for enrolled College Agriculture students who are pursuing a degree in agriculture and who have complete a minimum of 45 hours of College credit. There will be two $1,000 scholarships. The scholarship will be awarded $500 per semister for two semesters.
