Pecan Creek

Construction crews continue work on the Pecan Creek channelization project. The project began in 2009 and includes some infrastructure improvements, bridge repairs and efforts to widen the creek channel which bisects the city. Several projects are already complete including a new pedestrian bridge at the park between Main and Garnett Streets. The nearby Main Street bridge is expected to be finished by the end of October. Of the six bridges included in the Pecan Creek project, only the Belcher Street bridge will not be replaced, Gainesville Public Services Director Ron Sellman said Monday. Crews will finish the Belcher Street project with new curbs and gutters, he said.
