Liberty Belles discuss future events

The Liberty Belles Extension Education Club met Monday evening, Oct. 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the home of Mildred Davis.

Nona Stanley served as co-hostess. Members present were: Nona Sluder, Sharon Simmons, Nancy Otto, Mildred Davis, Beverly Norvell, Nelda Hudspeth, Jana James, Nicky Santos, Nona Stanley, Shirley Weems and our speaker, Angel Neu.

Nona Sluder, president, led the members in the EEC prayer as the inspiration.

The minutes from the Sept. 28 meeting were read by Sharon Simmons, secretary, and approved by the members.

Nancy Otto, treasurer, gave a report on the club fund. Mildred, council delegate, reported that the council voted to turn the Sell-O-Rama over to another organization.

Nona Stanley asked for the members to decide on an amount to donate to Abigail's Arms. It was suggested a donation of $50 with a motion from Beverly Norvell and a second by Nelda Hudspeth. This was approved.

Sluder began the discussion on the upcoming Christmas party hosted by the club on Dec. 8 at Temple Baptist Church at 6 p.m.

Simmons gave a report on the caterer and the food items were finalized. Simmons will get the invitations ready by the next council meeting with the details. These can be distributed to the other clubs through their delegates.

The Jan. 25, 2010 meeting time was set for the Summit Senior Center at 6 p.m. for a homemade soup supper and planning meeting.

Angel Neu presented the program on "Preserving Your Culinary Past". She talked about the value of passing down family recipes as part of preserving the past for future generations. Ways to do this are through scanning your handwritten copies into the computer and using the copies to do a scrapbooking history. You can laminate your copies, make them into a book and save them to a disc or flash drive.

No further business was discussed. The meeting was adjourned and refreshments were served to those present by Mildred and Nona Stanley.

The Nov. 23 meeting will be held in the home of Sharon Simmons with an accessory swap.

Anyone interested in becoming part of an Extension Education Club are welcome to contact Angel Neu at 668-5412 for more information.
