Sunday in Review
Our message this week was brought by Brgeso. Gerald Bridges. It was based on Isaiah 45. Isaiah is quoted more times in the New Testament than any other Old Testament book. Its first 39 chapters deal with the judgment of nations. God called Cyrus by name before birth, just as He did each of us. We were individuals before birth, not just pieces of flesh. Jerimiah 1. Psalms 139. God knew everyone before they were born. God is a forgiving God. John 3:18. We are not living in a universe ruled by chance. God knows all that we think, do,or say. No child of God should be talking about luck. God patiently and firmly molds us. Our greatest need is forgiveness of sin and redemption in Jesus. Just as there is a Heaven for the redeemed, there is Hell for the lost. Revelation 20:15. We each make our own choice between Heaven or Hell.

Grand Avenue Baptist Church
Sunday Review
As we entered the auditorium Sunday morning Carol McConnell was playing “Showers of Blessing” on the grand piano.
Choice Stephens opened the morning worship with prayer. We wished Ginger Latham a happy birthday,
Al Latham and Bud Synoground took up the offering and C. J. Oldaker collected the pennies in the little red wagon.
Carol McConnell played “Onward Christian Soldiers.”
Bro. Bill Black's sermon was from Exodus 33:13-23. Moses had found favor with God and he asked to see God's face. But, verse 20 says no man can see God and live.
Bro. Black quoted Max Lucado's thoughts on this passage. God hid Moses in the cleft of the rock, covering him with His hand. Moses caught a glimpse of God's back as He passed by. Shouldn't we, like Moses, be asking for a glimpse of God's glory? We are told to seek His face and His glory, to draw closer to Him. But, we must be the best we can be when we seek His face.
Al Latham and Kevin Sandmann assisted Bro. Black in serving the Lord's Supper. After we sang a hymn we were dismissed.

Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church
Sunday Review
Pastor David Hartwig told us the highlights of the story of Joseph, beginning in Hebrews 11:22. Joseph earned a spot in the "Hall of Faithfulness," as Hebrews 11 is called, by exhibiting trust in God's promises. The sermon's information about the life of Joseph came from Genesis 30-50. A lesson that may be learned from Joseph's life, other than the value of faith in God, is that favoritism within a family is harmful.
To hear insightful sermons such as this one, visit us at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 14777 S. FM 372 in the Mountain Springs Community. You are also invited to join us for Sunday School at 9:45 a.m., followed by the Morning Worship Service at 11 a.m. We have a well-equipped nursery for babies up to two years. Church of Jesus Christ
Sunday School Corner
Sister Penny Green
I recently learned some alarming statistics pertaining to suicide. Suicide is the third leading cause of death for youth ages 15-24. Suicide rates for ages 10-14 have increased by 51 percent between 1981 and 2004. Each week in the United States we lose approximately 100 young people to suicide, and four out of five have given clear warning signs. Why? Why do so many young people think that ending their life is the only answer to escape their pain? Why are they so hopeless? Don’t they know Jesus loves them? Don’t they know that someone cares about them? Don’t they know that someone somewhere wants to help them? The answer is “no” they don’t know. My goal as Sunday School Superintendent is to make sure the young people in our community, in our church, and in our homes don’t become just another number in the statistics. Our kids need love. They need God’s love, and every member of the church can make a difference in the life of a child. It’s not just a job for the Sunday School teacher. I am so proud to be a part of such a loving church. I truly believe we can show that much needed love to this world because I see that love each week. In a sister’s warm smile, in an elder sharing a piece of candy, in the usher opening a door, in the minister’s welcoming hand shake, in a teen’s friendly hug, in a worship leader’s heartfelt song, in the little things you may think go unnoticed.

Teresa Stopher, the organizer of VBS, and fifteen staffers did a wonderful job in presenting a week of encouraging the children to be always mindful of God's presence in their everyday lives. The Mission Collection of $243 was given to the organization of "Children Helping Children."
Sunday Review
Sunday, June 5, our worship service remembered the birthday of our great nation and those who had fought for our freedom. Especially our freedom to worship God without fear of persecution. Jim Blankenship read the Declaration of Independence while Sherrie Worthington played background music "My Country Tis of Thee."
Dr. Philip Coats and family were out of town visiting with relatives that just returned after living in China for the past two years. Mr. Carl Garrison, a Lay Speaker for Methodist Churches, took his text from II Samuel 5:1-5, 10-12. The scripture tells us how David looked to God in leading the Israelites to unite all the tribes of Israel and become a great kingdom. Mr. Garrison compared that to America's many wars and how we look to God for leadership in bringing peace to our great nation, and throughout the world. This was a very inspiring message.
We look forward to having Dr. Coats return to the pulpit this Sunday, June 12.
