With his father Lester Ott in the car repair business for 52 years, it was only natural that his son and Gainesville native Dan Ott opened up Auto Body Concepts (ABC) full collision repair service in his hometown.

The state-of-the-art facility is located at 601 West U.S. Highway 82 in Gainesville and is owned by Dan and Wendy Ott who are dedicated to providing their customers with a unique experience as a one-stop shop for vehicle repair.

ABC provides assistance in all aspects of collision repair including free estimates, great student discounts, a no-cost customer towing service, hand matched and hand mixed refinishing, in-house paintless dent repair and frame straightening topped off with a lifetime guarantee on all workmanship.

The Ott’s expertise also allows them to take the mystery and frustration out of insurance claims by working with all insurance companies directly on the customer’s behalf. ABC is a also a direct repair service for the local car dealerships.

With an Enterprise car rental service at the facility, a loaner car can be provided by ABC even if the owner does not have rental insurance.

Staying abreast of the latest technologies and advancements in the industry is a top priority for ABC. Ongoing training is offered to the professional and technically savvy team through numerous industry sources including the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair (I-CAR), the Automobile Management Institute (AMI), the International Mobile Air Conditioning Association (IMACA) and the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

In addition, Dan Ott serves as the publicity coordinator for I-CAR's southwest region, is a member of the PPG VIP roundtable group, and has been a member of the Automobile Service Association (ASA) since March 2001.

“We chose to join ASA because we wanted our customers to know and recognize that we are involved with the best organizations in the industry,” Dan Ott states on his website.

Dan Ott has been a force in the automobile industry for several years and started out working for his father at his local shop. He then went on to work for two of the largest dealerships in north Texas. While working for the dealerships, he won the Stanley Merit Award presented to him in Las Vegas. He also acted as the publicity coordinator for I-Car.

Leaving the dealership world, Dan Ott then decided to open his own collision center and founded ABC.

The new ABC building, built two years ago, stands in front of the old building and the office provides a  streamlined, comfortable experience for both customers and staff. With awards and plaques hanging proudly on the wall, the office is a testament to hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence in providing a service second to none for customers during sometimes stressful situations.

“Our goal is absolute perfection and we are known as the fastest shop with the best quality in the area,” said Dan Ott. “We take pride in our work and perform quality repairs on vehicles and back it up with a lifetime warranty.”

Participation in the community is very important to Dan and Wendy Ott and brings great joy to the business. A recent donation of a vehicle to a local family in desperate need of reliable transportation was just one of the ways ABC has given back to the community. ABC also sponsors local youth teams and works with the Boys and Girls Club of Cooke County.

In addition, contributions in areas that cater to families in need, battered spouses and less fortunate children are close to their hears.

Dan and Wendy Ott believe in working closely with local colleges to find those who would like to pursue a career in automobile repair. Because it is so important to them, ABC offers apprenticeship job opportunities. Currently one apprentice is working at the ABC facility.

When asked what he liked best about his job Ott said, “The diverse array of people that come to our shop. We get to hear all kinds of unusual and comical explanations for damages. Yet, we are also involved with families who are dealing with very stressful situations and who are unaware of what steps are required to get through the event. Helping families through the process is very satisfying.”

Lester Ott would be proud.
