Gainesville —
One of Gainesville’s newest boutiques has succeeded its way into a facility currently in development on North Grand Avenue.
Glitzy Girlz owner Felicia Harron said her clothing and accessory store is on its way to also including a giant “party room” that will feature runway shows and themed parties.
“We can customize packages to whatever your needs are,” she said.
All angles of the Glitzy Girlz motif are geared to women and children — and the retail side of Harron’s business, which is now open, offers clothing and beauty accessories such as hair bows.
“It caters to little girls, but we also have women’s clothing and women’s jewelry, which have prices you can’t beat,” Harron said. “You can’t go anywhere in town and get the quality and the things we have at the prices that we have.”
Harron said she launched the venture in 2010, in a smaller California Street location, and then the success of the Glitzy Girlz product line put her in a position to pause her nursing career and expand the business in August by moving to 603 N. Grand Ave.
“We’re super-busy and we needed more room because of demand,” she said. “I didn’t think it would be as big as it is now. We have high demand and we’re always busy, so we do really good.”
Harron said Glitzy Girlz has a broadening range of products, but the hair bows alone have sold plentifully enough to guarantee local success.
“It’s because of reasonable prices,” she said. “A hair bow, where you would go somewhere else in Sherman or Denton, is $20 or $15. But here, you can get it for $6 to $9. So it’s our prices.”
Glitzy Girlz hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
