Muenster’s Klement Ford a household name

Muenster — The Klement Ford dealership is just about the first and largest thing one sees when entering Muenster, Cooke County’s beloved German community.

And given the company’s long and successful local history, this is fitting.

“Being in business since 1948, in a town of 1,000 people, says a lot about our family-run store,” said General Manager Kirk Klement. “Great prices and great service after the sale keep people coming back for generations.”

This Ford dealership currently specializes in “up fitting” trucks typically seen in commercial and farming work. Klement said his lot is among the largest handlers of Royal and CM flatbeds in America, and it stays competitively priced.

“We don’t do sales gimmicks,” he said. “We use straightforward pricing that is fair and when we see you after the sale, we don’t have to dodge you because someone did something shady during your sale. You can trust us.”

The dealership on Highway 82 was originally called Endres Motor Company and had been located more centrally in town at the intersection of 82 and Main Street. Entrepreneurs Urban Endres and Marty Klement initiated the business and ran it for many decades until Klement’s sons, Karl and Kirk, inherited the reins.

The small-town, family-owned tone of the business has remained, despite its growing success.

“Many dealerships change hands over and over, and new management will bring in fast-talking people whose job it is to make you think you’re getting a deal that no one can beat,” Klement said. “And then they move off to the next dealership for more of the same.”

The sales staff at Klement Ford of Muenster doesn’t use this approach. And the manager added that customers often claim to be surprised when they visit his dealership and discover such a pleasant car-shopping experience.

“No one’s playing games or keeping them for hours and hours trying to wear them out to buy something,” he said. “It’s just an easy, no-pressure experience.”

Klement Ford of Muenster also offers parts and repair — and keeps an inventory of regular cars, of course. The lot generally has around 50 preowned vehicles in stock, cars and trucks included, and negotiable in-house financing is always available for new customers.

“If you have had credit problems in the past but you have a good job now, we can finance one for you as well,” Klement said.
