Cooke County Arts council discusses fund raiser

The Cooke County Arts Council met Thursday, Nov. 19 at the First State Bank Conference Center.

President Janet Morris presided.

Attending the meeting were Lydia Ansley, Margie Askew, Barbera Bockhorn, Sharon Chapman, Linda Coursey, John Hunt, Rebecca Lawson and Janet Morris.

Janet Morris gave an updatge of the treasurer’s report.

Linda Coursey, reporter, distributed news releases for the October 15 meeting.

Secretary Rebecca Lawson presented the minutes of the October meeting.

The group held further discussions about the Arts Council fundraiser which is planned for Februrary 20.

The event will be held at the Gainesville Independent School District auditorium at 1201 Lindsay St. The theme for the program is “Spring into Art.”

All members plan to participate.

The Gainesville Swing Orchestra and the North Central Texas Chorale are set to provide music.

The Gainesville Council of Garden Clubs will decorate, and the Gainesville Area Visual Arts will have an art exhibition.

Admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for students.

A portion of the money will go to scholarships.

Members also gave reports on various club activities.
