Garden Club scheduled to meet December 8

The Garden Study Club will meet at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Lydia Ansley’s house.

The group is planning a gift exchange and a book review by Patsy Wilson.

Members are reminded to bring a dish to share and a food donation for VISTO, the local food bank. For more information call club president Margie Askew at 665-2760.

Last month the Garden Study Club met at Margie Askew’s house. Juanita Leach was unable to speak about Thanksgiving & fall arrangements and Lydia Ansley led the program with her talk on the origins of cornucopias with examples from her vegetable garden.

Ken Leach sent an arrangement he created for his mother.

The previous meeting was at Dee Fisk’s house. She had a program on Angel Trumpets (Brugmansia).

Club members learned several things about Angel Trumpets.

For instance, cuttings may be taken from the upper portions of the flowering wood.

Gardeners can usually expect their plants to bloom within a year.

Another item worth noting is that Angel Trumpets are beautiful, but also poisonous.
