The museum is also releasing its wish list.

“We are seeking a dressmaker's manquin for our costume shop. Please let us know if you have one you'd like to donate,” said executive director Tamera Broyles.

She added the theater appreciates its volunteers and that there is always room for more.

“We have numerous volunteer opportunities, so give us a call if you have some time to give,” she said.

Renovations

Renovations have begun at the Butterfield Stage Theater

“Thanks to the support of our City Manager, City Council, and community, Butterfield Stage is getting some much-needed repair. As many of you know, the building was actually the former Carengie Library that was built in 1914 with a grant from the Carnegie Foundation. It is one of 12 Carnegie libraries still in use in Texas, and the only one used as a community theatre. Butterfield Stage has occupied the space since 1979. Normal wear and tear has begun to take effect and we found ourselves with inadequate and failing HVAC, windows, doors, electricity and plumbing. This year, in the first phase of a three-to-five year process, the most pressing of these issues will be addressed Work has already begun and we are thrilled to announce that we have heat in the upstairs performance space! In addition to the repair work being done, our volunteers have taken on the task of turning the basement into a second performance space. In the building's original design, there was a stage in the basement that was used to host performances and speakers to raise money for the library. We invite you to stop by and take a look. If you'd like to help, give us a ring,” Broyles said.

The theater also offers sponsorship opportunities for local businesses.

Call 665-8152 for more information.
