Family and friends packed Lions Fieldhouse on the North Central Texas College Gainesville campus Thursday and Friday to honor and recognize the graduating class of 2013.
Two commencement ceremonies were held last week. Thursday’s ceremony was for graduates of Health Sciences, Cosmetology and Law Enforcement programs. On Friday, graduates of Advanced and Applied Technology programs along with graduates of Arts and Sciences programs were recognized.
Over 600 students applied for graduation at NCTC this spring and more than 430 participated in the two graduation ceremonies.
Seventeen students graduated Summa Cum Laude with a cumulative grade point average of 4.00. They included Danielle Atkinson, Misty Blake, Allison Craig, Miranda Ellinghaus, Walter Ellison II, Sean Farris, Patrick Kowalczyk, Deanna Miller, Kevin Ordaz, Issac Rodriguez, Amy Schrick, Brooke Selman, Taylor Tate, Christie Tomplait, Marite Tringali, Vincent Wilcox and Susan Wood.
Twelve other students graduated Magna Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.90-3.99. They included Perez Atugonza, Tabitha Burton, Tessa Cranston, William Daniel, Lanita Griffith, Alison Helms, Maggie Hendryx, Jessica Hertel, Anderson Hutto, Marline Mercado-Ortega, Buffy Saltzman and Bryan White.
Among the NCTC Honors Program graduates were KaitlinKarnes, Rowena Mphahlele-Prather, Conner Orent and Katherine Wintz.
