Members of the Gainesville Rotary Club are currently preparing the organization’s annual flag program which delivers and displays large American flags throughout the community and surrounding area.
The program operates through private donations. For an annual fee of $40 annually, the club will deliver a U.S. flag to your home on six particular holidays and display it in your front yard.
“In these troubled times it is hoped that this program will revive and inspire all of us to become more patriotic,” said flag committee chairman Parker Yarbrough.
In addition to helping to create a revived pride in America, this program donates proceeds to area charitable institutions. The Rotary Club of Gainesville regularly donates substantial sums to the Gainesville's Medal of Honor program and the new MOH Park, Cooke County Youth Center, Volunteers in Service to Others, DASH, Abigail's Arms, and local scholarships to graduating seniors.
On an International scale, the Gainesville Rotary Club, working through Rotary International, is participating in a foundation dedicated to eradicating the disease of polio from the earth.
With Gainesville's new designation as the most patriotic small town in America, Rotary is asking you and your neighbors to participate in this program so that you may live in a true flag waving neighborhood. The flags will be displayed this year on Memorial Day (May 27), Flag Day (June 14), Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day (Sept. 20), Patriot’s Day (Sept. 11), and Veterans Day (Nov. 11). The club also recently voted to include the flag displays during Medal of Honor Week at no additional charge to supporters.
To participate in this program please send your check for $40 to the Gainesville Rotary Club, P.O. Box 937, Gainesville, TX 76241. Be sure and include your name and the address where you want the flag to be installed.
