Organizers 'M-o-o-ving' on mud run fundraiser

Special to the Register

Gainesville — M-o-o-ving Thru’ the Mud with Landon Mud Run is back and slingin’ more mud than ever.

The second  mud fun run is set for Saturday, May 18 at the same location, Circle N Dairy, in Gainesville.

The mud run is for children ages 4-14 and is designed to be a non-competitive event, allowing children to free their spirits as they run, dive, roll and jockey through a range of obstacles in the mud pits.

The Lindsay volunteer Fire Department will spray the kids to begin the cleaning process.

Registration is $20 per participant and each participant will receive an event shirt, lunch, goodie bag.

Other activities include hay rides, calf petting, face painting and door prizes.

The Friends of Landon are adding the finishing touches to this local fundraiser which impacts the lives of families afflicted with Hypothalamic Hamartomas (HH) worldwide.

HH is a rare benign brain tumor or lesion of the hypothalamus. The hypothalamus is located at the base of the brain and is responsible for many of the automatic functions of the brain including hunger, thirst, temperature, passion, and hormone regulation.

A hypothalamic hamartomas can cause many types of seizures, precocious (premature) puberty, cognitive deterioration, and severe behavioral difficulties known as rage behaviors.

Landon is a young Valley View boy who is courageously fighting HH.

M-o-o-ving Thru' the Mud with Landon is a fundraiser benefiting the non-profit organization Hope for HH. Hope for HH helps families coping with HH by providing information and support to HH patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers. All proceeds go to Hope for HH to research early detection, improve treatments, and find a cure.

The First Mud Run in May 2012 drew a crowd of over 800 attendees with 372 participants and raised $15,000 in the first fundraiser worldwide benefiting Hope for HH.
