To the Editor:
On behalf of the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Directors would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere apologies to all of the individuals effected by the cancellation of the movie “How to Make an American Quilt” on January 30, 2010. In particular, we would like to apologize to the three entities which came together to sponsor this movie. The Common Threads Quilt Guilt Board, Pass Time Fabrics and Le Retreat House came together to sponsor the movie for the benefit of their patrons and these patrons were met with closed doors and a sign reading, “Movie Cancelled”. Frankly, this sheds a negative light on an activity which was created by the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, and we are disappointed that many individuals and the three entities mentioned were adversely impacted by this unfortunate turn of events. Please accept our apologies as we endeavor to promote Gainesville and its businesses in a more positive light.
