Cooke County's New Year's baby makes her big debut

— Dorismar Gonzalez was born at 1:53 a.m. New Years Day, which makes her the first baby born in Cooke County in 2009 . She was born in the Women’s Center at North Texas Medical Center and weighed in at 5 lbs. 15 oz.
Dorismar’s parents, Maria Cruz and Juan Gonzalez, were not expecting to spend their New Year’s Eve in the hospital. Their baby was due on Jan. 21, but she decided to come three weeks early.
“We came to the hospital about 11 p.m. because I started having contractions,” said Maria.
Juan said that they had planned to spend New Year’s Eve with his parents, but the two of them ended up at the hospital.
“I’m very happy,” said Maria. “I’ve always wanted a little girl, to dress her up and make up her hair.” “I’m, just excited,” said Juan. “I’m scared, she’s so small.”
“I always wanted to name my baby girl Dorismar,” said dad. “I just liked the name for some reason.”
Dorismar has a big brother, Angel Cruz, who is almost one and a half years old. “He came to see Dorismar and he was happy and laughing,” said Juan.
“My parents came by the hospital to see her,” said dad. “They are happy to see her.”
Being the first baby born to North Texas Medical Center, Dorismar received a $500 savings bond, her first teddy bear, and other gifts from the hospital.
“I am glad to have a holiday baby,” said mom.
“She will have her birthday on New Year’s Day, so we will always have a party,” said dad. “That means more presents under the Christmas tree.”
Juan and Maria met through family members. Her sister married his cousin. Things turned romantic on New Year’s last year.
Dorismar’s grandparents are Maria and Reymundo Cruz and Juanita and Juan Gonzalez.
Dad said that this will double up the kid duty, but he is ready.
