ABBA schedules annual dinner, silent auction

ABBA Women’s Center is scheduled to host its annual silent auction and fundraising dinner at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 at Centennial Hall in Lindsay.

Tickets are now on sale for $25 per person through ABBA board members, staff and volunteers or may be purchased at ABBA Women’s Center at 214 N. Taylor & Broadway during office hours or by calling (940) 668-6391.

The organization is currently receiving sponsorship gifts, silent auction items and donations of door prizes to support the pro-life activities and free services provided to the north Texas and southern Oklahoma area.

Father Ken Robinson is the featured pro-life speaker and ABBA Chairman of the Board Bill Black will serve as master of ceremonies for the evening. Vice-Chairman John Roane of the ABBA board of directors will present the annual Angela Haverkamp Award. Special music will be provided and Donna Hertel owner of Miss Olivia Bed and Breakfast and Sarah’s on the Square will cater the evening dinner.

ABBA’s Executive Director Sandee Feyereisen will feature special client success accounts and recognize volunteer efforts and local community service groups who have given their time for community service projects to benefit the crisis pregnancy center.

“Cooke County is blessed with strong pro-life supporters who are very generous to young women and families in crisis situations. We would like to celebrate life at this year’s event and show you how lives have been saved and changed through the work you have made possible,” said Feyereisen.

ABBA Women’s Center provides free services for anyone experiencing a crisis pregnancy or those experiencing family crisis situations.

Material assistance such as free pregnancy testing, peer counseling, educational literature and free classes, baby diapers, infant and family clothing, baby formula, maternity clothing, baby and home furnishings and other materials are available through the donations of private citizens, community service organizations, local businesses and county-wide church participation.

“ABBA Women’s Center is a pro-life work owned by the community who supports us.

We were created to provide pro-life support and assistance without discrimination to all those in need. We do not receive government support and we are not owned by any specific church group, denomination or civic organization. We represent everyone who believes life is precious and those who honor the sanctity of human life,” she said.

“Our board of directors include Bill Black, Chairman, John Roane, Vice Chairman, Judy Krahl, Secretary; Rita McCreary, Debbie Sharp, Margie York, Glen Kersey, Lorene Sandmann and Monica Lamb who are community leaders representing many different areas of public service and Christian denominations.

When you give financial gifts or material donations to ABBA Women’s Center or Second Chance Resale Store you are giving to support your community and you are helping to meet specific needs that improve the quality of life for someone else or you are directly providing assistance to save lives.”

Free educational classes are available from now through the end of May until summer break. Free pregnancy testing and materials will be available year round.

Classes include a parenting class taught by executive director Sandee Feyereisen on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to noon.

Other classes include English as a Second Language available for Spanish speaking adults who would like to learn to speak and write English taught on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. by Kathy Sears. Nutrition in English is scheduled on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and Nutrition in Spanish is at 2 p.m. and is taught by Dee Dee Martin of the County Extension Service.

Prenatal classes are taught on Wednesdays at 11a.m. with Barbara Roberson. Computer training classes are also available by group or personal appointment with instructor Patti Allen who is teaching the Microsoft Office Suite for enhanced job skills. We are located at 214 N. Taylor and E. Broadway in Gainesville open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Additionally, Second Chance Resale Store is located at 214 N. Taylor and E. Broadway in Gainesville.

The store is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and the first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Second Chance Resale Store receives material donations in good condition for resale or free distribution to meet needs or provide support to ABBA Women’s Center’s free services and materials programs.
