Area election results announced
Staff report
The following is a list of the results from Saturday’s local city and schoolboard elections. Until the votes are canvassed by the appropriate boards or councils the total is unofficial.
City of Gainesville
In the city election, Glenn Loch won the popular vote with 524 votes to Michael Stockwell’s 167 votes in Stockwell’s first attempt to take the city mayoral seat.
The incumbent City Councilmen Carolyn Hendricks, Beverly Snuggs and Jim Goldsworthy had no opponents. Hendricks, in Ward No. 1, got 29 votes. Snuggs in Ward No. 2 received 45 votes and Goldsworthy earned 81 votes in Ward No. 4.
Gainesville ISD
In a contested race for Place 4 on the Gainesville Independent School District Board of Trustees, Lisa Bellows received 374 votes while challenger Mike Schmitz won with 425 votes. Phil Adams ran unopposed for Place 5. He received 587 votes. In the Place 6 unexpired term contest, David Moore received 504 votes to Wray Westbrook’s 278 votes.
Whitesboro ISD
The school board at two at-large positions open with four candidates running. The incumbants swept the election.
Davis Bertino garnered 130 votes, B.B. Reedy, Jr., received 129 of the votes to win the seats. The challengers Anita Morales with 71 votes and Don Rogers with 21 votes lost.
Era ISD
Jaret Kindiger won a seat on the Era Independent School District Board of Trustees. Kindiger had 94 votes to Shane Fortenberry’s 64 votes to take Place 1. A total of 158 individuals cast ballots in the election.
Callisburg
Stephen Potz-Nielsen and Paul Hodgkinson both received 74 votes and are set to face each other in a run-off. The date of the run-off election is not yet final, according to Callisburg ISD officials. The complete results are Stephen Potz-Nielsen 74, Paul Hodgkinson 74, Dusty Weaver 80, Lisa Houk 70, Wanda Demetrion 25, Scott Jackson 2 and John Williams 1.
Muenster ISD
For Place 5 on the Muenster Independent School District board of trustees, Richard Dangelmayr had 277votes to Doug Hermes’ 208. For the Place 6 seat, Ronnie Felderhoff got 170 votes to Kimberly Hess Walterscheid’s 317 votes. Steve Trubenbach ran unopposed for Place 7. He received 433 votes.
Cities and school districts that have canceled elections are:
North Texas Medical Center, Muenster Hospital District, city of Lindsay, city of Callisburg, city of Muenster, city of Valley View, Lindsay Independent School District and Valley View Independent School District.
