Special to the Register
First-semester nursing students from North Central Texas College have some residents of Gainesville Health and Rehab a day they will never forget.
The nursing students took the residents on an outing to the Frank Buck Zoo in Gainesville Friday. The trip has become an annual event.
“I think it’s very therapeutic for (the residents) to get out from being in the home and to get out of their normal environment and get to experience things that they don’t get to experience every day,” nursing student Jonna McEnroe said. “I think it brings a lot of life to them and it makes them so happy. To see them smile, you can tell it means a lot to them.”
First-semester nursing students do their clinicals at the Gainesville Health and Rehab center, so they develop a bond with the patients they serve.
