Sivells Bend —
During a budget workshop held on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 the trustees of Sivells Bend ISD set the proposed tax rate for the district at $0.9768/$100 valuation. This is the maximum rate that the district may adopt.
This is slightly higher than the adopted rate for 2011 – 2012, but still considerably lower than surrounding districts. The trustees will meet again on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 to formally adopt the budget for 2012 – 2013 and set the final tax rate for the district.
Following the workshop, the district held the regular monthly meeting. During that meeting the trustees approved the Student Code of Conduct for 2012 – 2013 based on the TASB model; and discussed a proposed employee extended leave policy.
The board heard a report from Superintendent Phil Newton on: projected enrollment for 2012 – 2013; delinquent tax collections; expenditures and revenues for the 2011 – 2012 year; current fund balance; and arrangements for board to attend the TASB/TASA School Board Convention in September. Newton also reported that the district had meet AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) for the 2011 – 2012 school year under the federal NCLB requirements and that the district continued to maintain a “0” rate for the 2010 – 2011 year.
