After two years of dating, a former Saturday Night Live cast member and actor tied the knot with a former Gainesville-area resident.
Chris Kattan and Sunshine Tutt, who have been dating since 2005, tied the knot just outside Yosemite National Park near Yosemite Valley, Calif., on June 28.
The couple became engaged on Christmas Eve 2006, when Kattan proposed to Tutt at her grandparents’ home in Gainesville. The couple had met at a mutual friend’s birthday party.
Tutt, 31, works as a model. Kattan, 37, appeared on NBC’s Saturday Night Live from 1996 to 2003, and later became known for starring in the movies “Corky Romano” and “A Night at the Roxbury.”
In “Roxbury,” an on-screen adaptation of a recurring SNL skit, Kattan played Doug Butabi, who synchronously bobbed his head sideways to the beat of “What Is Love?” by the group Haddaway, with co-star Will Ferrell.
Tutt, who had a few bit roles in movies, was recently a contender for “Hometown Honey,” representing Brownsville in FHM magazine.
Tutt is the daughter of Steve Tutt of Gainesville and the granddaughter of Harold and Jean Tutt of Lindsay.
Tutt was not available for comment after telephone calls and messages given through relatives.
Jean Tutt said she was present for the ceremony and was impressed by the hospitality of the park staff.
“It was really nice — everyone had a place to stay,” she said. “It was all ours while we were there.”
Steve Tutt said he is excited that her daughter married someone in the entertainment business.
“She’s a celebrity in her own right, too, and I think they go real well together,” he said. “She’s still doing a lot of modeling, even at age 31.”
According to July 9 edition of The National Ledger, comedienne Parker Posey served as “best man” at the wedding. The guest list included Will Ferrell, Jimmy Fallon, Brooke Shields and Charlie Sheen.
The groom set the tone by riffing on open marriage and hippie in-laws in his vows.
“Sunshine had a very sweet, beautiful vow about how much I meant to her, but mine was a little more funny,” Kattan said in the article.
