Gainesville motel robbed at gunpoint

Two men in ski masks and black clothing robbed a Gainesville business owner at gun point Tuesday night.

Chief Steven Fleming said officers were called to the America’s Best Value Inn in the 3000 block of East Highway 82 in response to an aggravated robbery at the motel at 11:10 p.m. Tuesday.

He said Daksheshkumar Patel told police he was watching television when he heard a loud noise and saw two men enter the lobby.

“The suspects told him to stay seated in a chair while they went to the cash register and removed the money,” Fleming said.

After taking an unknown amount of cash from the register, the men fled the store on foot.

Patel told officers the two men were approximately 5’6” and 5’8”.

“They were wearing black shirts, black pants, black ski masks and white tennis shoes,” Fleming noted.
