Valley View hosts recycling day
Keep Valley View Beautiful (KVVB) and Fulton Supply & Recycling will be hosting a Metal Recycling Day on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Valley View Square downtown.
All proceeds from the event will go towards the KVVB Pavilion Fund to be place on the square, said KVVB member Perlene Newton.
“I hope everyone will come out and help with funding for the pavilion,” said Newton. “We’re hoping this will be the opportune time to get rid of items like that and make it easy for people because it’s a close distance.”
Metals which can be donated include any metals that are in your yard and pastures that you would like to get rid of. Examples of items includes: old swing sets, bicycles (with tires), lawn furniture, basketball goals, buckets, barrels, cattle troughs, barbecue grills, pipes, metal fencing, old farm equipment, tire rims, car parts, old cars with owner’s title and old lawn mowers.
Motors may also be donated, but must have oil drained, filters removed and no liquids.
Fulton Supply & Recycling will have a container set up on the square for anyone to make a donation. People can also make money donations to go towards the KVVB-Pavillion Fund.
Newton said she encourages everyone to come and make a donation in order for KVVB to reach its goal and build the pavilion in 2008.
Not only will the pavilion possibly help Valley View receive the Governor’s Achievement Award for the State of Texas, said Newton, but it will also help attract more attention to the area.
“It’s just going to help express to the town people and the surrounding areas that Valley View is growing and that we want to keep up with the rest of the areas around us,” said Newton. “We’re not going to be forgotten about. It’s also just going to add so much to the downtown area and we’re hoping it will help other businesses to want to make a home down here.”
Newton also wanted to remind everyone that no donation is too small to help with the beautification of Valley View.
