With the advent of holiday food drives benefiting local nonprofits and the hungry in Cooke County, Encompass Home Health held a toiletry drive recently to assist those who also need items for personal hygiene and comfort.
Encompass Branch Director Pamela Morris said although food is always a necessary, other basic needs should also be addressed.
“As part of the Encompass Cares Foundation belief, it is important for Encompass Home Health to give back to the community,” Morris said.
“Not only do people need to be fed but they have other health care needs that should be addressed.”
Soap, toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, creams, lotions, deodorants and other items were donated by several local companies and organizations and dropped off at the Encompass office on West Broadway this week.
“We received donations from Pecan Tree Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Family Dental Care of Gainesville, Campbell Dental, the Encompass Cares Foundation and the Encompass Home Health office,” Morris said.
“We also would like to commend Chalmers Elementary students and teachers for their donations.”
Items donated for the event will be dispersed through Abigail’s Arms and Volunteers In Service to Others (VISTO).
“We have worked with VISTO before and we also wanted to assist Abigail’s Arms so we decided to divide the items in order to benefit both agencies,” Morris said.
