Cooke County Sheriff’s Office investigators made an arrest Thursday in the Feb. 15, 2008 murder of Patrick William Fleitman, Jr.
Cooke County investigators Justin Patterson and Cody Patrick took Roger Allen Clark, 44, into custody at a ranch in Linden, Sheriff Mike Compton said Friday.
Clark’s arrest marks the second time the former Montague County resident has been jailed in connection with Fleitman’s death.
Clark was arrested in March 2008 — just over a month after the murder — but was later released.
“Back in ‘08 (the Cooke County District Attorney’s office) didn’t believe they had enough to convict him,” Cooke County District Attorney Janice Warder said Friday.
Fleitman’s body was found Feb. 16, 2008 outside a residence on County Road 320 near Era.
Information released by investigators indicated Fleitman had been killed Feb. 15. A passerby reportedly discovered his body and alerted authorities the next day.
Warder said she appointed Denton County attorney Cary Piel as a special investigator in the Fleitman case.
“Cary Piel, working with the sheriff’s department, was able to develop new evidence in the case,” Warder said, “The new evidence was presented to the grand jury and they returned an indictment.”
Piel, Warder noted, helped secure the conviction of Sanger resident Charles Stobaugh for the 2004 disappearance and presumed murder of Stobaugh’s estranged wife, Cathy Stobaugh.
Warder said Clark was transferred to the Cooke County Jail where he’s being held on $100,000 bond.
His trial date has not been set.
Cooke County Sheriff Mike Compton said his investigators never gave up on the five-year-old case.
“This is an old case that has been constantly worked on by us at every opportunity and finally, we were able to gather enough evidence to get an indictment and an arrest warrant,” Compton said.

The Big One: Preparing for mid-America earthquake
Part 5 of a five-part series
It’s a bleak scenario. A massive earthquake along the New Madrid fault kills or injures 60,000 people in Tennessee. A quarter of a million people are homeless. The Memphis airport – the country’s biggest air terminal for packages – goes off-line. Major oil and gas pipelines across Tennessee rupture, causing shortages in the Northeast. In Missouri, another 15,000 people are hurt or dead. Cities and towns throughout the central U.S. lose power and water for months. Losses stack up to hundreds of billions of dollars. -

Members of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) have announced new recommendations in their continued quest to end drunk driving.
During the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, alcohol is a common theme in many celebratory activities throughout the nation and state, and, therefore, many Texans unnecessarily die in vehicular accidents involving alcohol-impaired drivers.
This past week, National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) officials announced several new recommendations relating to drunk driving, including lowering the national blood alcohol content (BAC) standard from .08 to .05. -
