Select Energy helps neighbors

— Employees of Select Energy hosted a bake sale with all proceeds benefitting Cooke County United Way.  The Select Energy management and employees have taken the challenge of “neighbor helping neighbor” with  their recent employee campaign which concluded with last Friday’s bake sale event. Pictured are Guy Zimmerer, Lisa Dodd, Nicholete Theriot and Stephanie Kindijeter.

    Vicki Robertson, executive director for Court Appointed Special Advocates for children (CASA), is looking forward to the upcoming Cowboys for CASA fundraiser July 18 at the Gainesville Civic Center when folks from all across the county come together in support of the non profit agency with the mission to provide advocates for abused and neglected children in the foster care system.

    The Texas Department of State Health Services today confirmed the state’s first case of West Nile illness of the season. DSHS is urging people to take precautions to reduce the risk of contracting West Nile virus, a mosquito-borne illness.
