Gainesville —
The 2010 Rodeo Gainesville is set for Friday and Saturday night at the Gainesville Riding Club Arena at 3152 North Grand Ave. in Gainesville.
The rodeo is hosted by the Gainesville Riding Club and will kick off both nights with a traditional rodeo grand entry beginning at 8 p.m.
Setting the pivots and performing on horseback Friday night will be the “Texas Cowgirl Rodeo Drill Team” of Granbury. The “Santa Rosa Palomino Club” of Vernon will perform Saturday night.
The popular, two-day rodeo will include saddle bronc, bareback, bull riding, barrel racing, tie-down roping, team roping and steer wrestling. Terry Walls, of Goldthwaite, will be the new stock contractor for the Rodeo this year.
“He will be bringing some professional quality rough stock,” GRC Captain Donny Wilson said in a press release.
Special nightly events at this year’s rodeo will include an appearance by three-time Pro Rodeo Entertainer of the Year, Tommy Lucia and Whiplash, the “Cowboy Monkey.”
The “scoop race” will again be featured as a part of the rodeo action. This crowd-pleasing event will take place during the Friday and Saturday night performances.
There’s also plenty of action for kids with calf scrambles both nights and mutton bustin’ beginning at 7 p.m. nightly. Parents are asked to arrive early to sign their kids up for the event.
The crowning ceremonies for the 2010 GRC Rodeo Queen and 2010 GRC Rodeo Princess will be held during the performance on Friday night.
Presentation of the 2010 Rodeo Gainesville Higher Education Scholarships will be during Saturday night’s performance.
