Student council members will welcome tour guests

Gainesville — Several members of the Gainesville High School Student Council are set to be volunteers during the “2012 Home Holiday Tour” in historic south Gainesville scheduled for 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday.  

“This is a fine group of young leaders who are giving of their time to help welcome guests to our neighborhood,” said Lynette Scruggs, event chairman. “Our tour could not take place without the help of numerous volunteers and we greatly appreciate the student council involvement this year.”

Students signed to serve as volunteers include Jorge Alvarado, Christina Berry, Hanna Gerken, Morgan Moore, Ashlie Gonzales, Cale Kennedy, Hunter Hall, Hernan Cortez, Pam Boeko, Brookelyn Hall, Sarah Gerken, Jordan Hall, Chisam Brewer, Haley Schumacher, Samantha Calhoun, Kaitlynn Romans, Maddie Merryfield, Ricky Mendez, Jacob Goldsworthy and Hunter Goldsworthy.

And tickets are still on sale for the tour, which is presented by the Historic South Gainesville organization and spans several blocks.

It features inside tours of six residences in downtown south Gainesville, luminaries, live music by Lisa Perry and refreshments at the Morton Museum of Cooke County, located at 210, S. Dixon St. in Gainesville.

As an added bonus, participating local retailers will provide a one-time shopping discount to tour ticket holders.  

Event schedule and related events:

Home tours are from 4 to 8 p.m., with holiday carol singers scheduled to sing at several of the featured homes.

4:30 to 7:30 p.m. — Lisa Perry performs jazzy vocal classics paired with holiday favorites at the Morton Museum of Cooke County. Refreshments will be available.

6 to 9 p.m. — A live Nativity scene is presented at First Presbyterian Church at 401 S. Denton St. in Gainesville.
