Thackerville, Okla. —
Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials released details about Monday morning’s crash on Red River Bridge resulting in the death of Alexander A. Garcia, 22.
The crash occurred shortly before 7 a.m. Monday on Interstate 35, four miles south of Thackerville, Okla.
The report explained that Garcia, a Dallas resident, was northbound in a 1995 GMC Suburban when he lost control of the vehicle on the icy Red River Bridge.
Garcia veered off the left side of the roadway and slid backwards into the center median and then down an embankment.
The vehicle rolled once and the wreck’s impact ejected him from the Suburban. Garcia, who was reportedly not using a seat belt while driving, was killed at the scene and transported to Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home in Marietta, Okla.
The report also indicated he was driving too fast on the icy bridge at the time he lost control.
