Public hearing will follow budget requests

Gainesville —

A public hearing regarding 2013 budget requests among Cooke County
department heads is tentatively set for Aug. 16, following three
preliminary budget request hearings conducted June 25-27.
The budget requests of June 25 were published in the Register
Wednesday — and what follows is all three days of requests, all
figures preliminary and based on submitted documents, and all subject
to change during the coming months. A more extensive list of
departmental budget requests, which is divided into line items, is
available at the Cooke County website.
Monday, June 25
• County Attorney Tanya Davis requested $513,000, which included a 5
percent salary increase for staff, and was an increase against the
$494,535 budget of 2012.
• County Court at Law Judge John Morris requested $372,117, which
included salary increases for his assistants and court reporter and
was an increase against the $371,117 budget of 2012.
• Extension Office Director Wayne Becker requested roughly $115,000,
which included an increase in secretarial, travel and supply expenses
and was an increase against the $100,092 budget of 2012.
• Maintenance Department Representative Ricky Kerr requested $787,752,
which included increases in building repair and utility costs, and was
an increase against the $610,057 budget of 2012.
• Muenster Library Representative Cliff Sicking requested $12,000, an
increase against the $10,000 budget of 2012.
• County Information Technology Director Dana Sons requested $456,978,
which included additional computer equipment costs and was an increase
against the $269,428 budget of 2012.
• Cooke County Historical Commission Representative Ron Melugin
requested $1,000, a decrease against the $1,200 budget allotment of
2012.
Tuesday, June 26
Meals on Wheels of Texoma Representative Greg Pittman requested
$3,150, an increase against the $3,000 of 2012.
County Treasurer Judy Hunter requested an amount close to $113,000, an
increase against the $112,074 of 2012.
Highway Patrol Trooper Mike Linnell requested $58,004, a decrease
against the $58,332 of 2012.
Assistant District Attorney Ron Poole requested an amount close to
$467,500, the same as 2012 amounts.
Child Protective Services Representative Danielle Deloach requested
$17,000, the same as 2012 amounts.
Precinct 4 Constable Richard Roth requested $54,410, the same as 2012 amounts.
Texoma Council of Governments Executive Director Susan Thomas
requested $23,000, an increase against the $13,000 of 2012.
County Compliance Officer Shannon Ing requested an amount close to
$58,200, a decrease against the $58,443 of 2012.
County Clerk Rebecca Lawson requested an amount close to $225,000, a
decrease against the $274,016 of 2012.
Abigail’s Arms Executive Director Kim Cook requested $25,000.
Court Appointed Special Advocates Executive Director Vicky Robertson
requested $16,000, an increase against the $13,000 of 2012.
County Auditor Shelly Atteberry requested roughly $335,000, an
increase against the $334,663 of 2012.
Wednesday, June 27
• Precinct 1 Constable Terry Gilbert requested an amount close to
$51,000, an increase against the $50,460 of 2012.
• Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter Representative Larry Claxton requested $10,000.
• County District Clerk Susan Hughes requested $223,296, an increase
against the $213,440 of 2012.
• Environmental Health Officer Laura Blanton requested $64,232, the
same as 2012 amounts.
• Heritage Society Representative Kay Wallace requested $5,000.
• Human Resources Director Elizabeth Huchton requested $70,291, the
same as 2012 amounts.
• Texoma Community Center Executive Director Tony Maddox requested
$10,500, the same as 2012 amounts.
• Tax Assessor/Collector Billie Jean Knight requested an amount close
to $367,000, an increase against the $364,424 of 2012.
• Upper Elm/Red Soil/Water Conservation Representative J.K. Brite
requested $9,000, the same as 2012 amounts.
• Veteran’s Service Office Representative and County Judge John Roane
requested $34,268 for the former organization (an increase against the
$32,992 of 2012) and $131,872 for the county judge’s office, the same
as 2012 amounts.
• 235th District Judge Janelle Haverkamp requested $255,000, an
increase against $244,842 of 2012.
• Precinct 1 Road and Bridge Representative Gary Hollowell requested
$1,626,705, an increase against $1,573,343 of 2012.
• Precinct 2 Road and Bridge Representative B.C. Lemons requested
$1,306,074, a decrease against $1,316,738 of 2012.
• Precinct 4 Road and Bridge Representative Leon Klement requested
$1,512,826, an increase against $1,472,826 of 2012.
