Taylor receives maximum sentence for leaving scene of accident after party

Staff report

A jury recommended the maximum sentence for a Whitesboro woman with a history of drunk driving.

Crystal Jean Taylor, 29, was sentenced to 10 years in prison by a Grayson County jury.

Taylor was on trial for leaving the scene of an accident causing injury or death after she crashed into two cars leaving a Sherman party in 2007 and dragged a man more than 1,100 feet before running the man over with her car.

The man suffered extensive injuries and according to a report on KXII-TV, permanently lost the use of one of his arms.

Last year, police caught Taylor driving drunk and headed the wrong way on U.S. Highway 82 near Whitesboro.

She was out on bond at the time of that DWI arrest.

District Judge Brian Gary followed the jury’s recommendation when he sentenced Taylor to 10 years in the prison and a $10,000 fine for leaving the scene of an accident involving injury or death.
