Monday was the last day for candidates to file for the May 8 elections including municipal offices, local school boards, the North Central Texas College Board of Regents and the North Texas Medical Center board.
Voters may begin casting ballots during early voting from April 26 to May 4. Voters should complete the registration process in the office of the Cooke County Tax Assessor Collector at 212 E. California St. in Gainesville.
April 8 is the last day to register.
March 15 is the last day for write-in candidates to file.
Muncipal elections include the following candidates in the following cities.
In Callisburg, Brent Eugster, Richard Carlile, Nathan Caldwell and Bob Henderson filed for three seats on the Callisburg City Council. Current City Councilman Bobby McDaniel, filed for a one-year unexpired term.
In the city of Gainesville, candidates who have filed for seats on the City Council include Nathan Dempsey, Ward 3, Ray Nichols, Ward 5, Vince Rippy, Ward 6 and Chris Cypert who filed for municipal judge.
Candidates who filed for positions in the city of Lindsay include Danny Nortman for alderman and David Tharp for mayor.
In Muenster, Pat Stelzer filed for Place 1 on the Muenster City Council while Greg Bohl and Jewel Otto filed for Places 2 and 4 respectively.
On the Valley View City Council, candidates Tom Tilton and Tracey Robinson filed for two places. No one filed for a third open seat on the council.
In Oak Ridge, Deborah Davis and Mary Burch filed for two seats on the City Council. Chad Ramsey filed for mayor. He is running unopposed.
In area school districts, four candidates have filed for five open seats on the Callisburg ISD Board of Trustees. They are Lisa Houk, Randall Reed, Brad Williams, Scott Jackson, Donny Wilson and Kent Colteryahan.
Gainesville ISD school board candidates include David Moore for Place 6, Mary Hunter for Place 7 and Lee Tatum for Place 7.
Jim Ott and Jill Furhmann filed for two seats on the Lindsay School Board.
Muenster ISD school board candidates include Neal Flusche for Place 1 and Mel Walterscheid for Place 2.
Several candidates have filed with Valley View ISD for places on the school board. They include Alan Kassen, Clint Grant, Karl Maughan, Johnny Brown and Alaina Dugger.
Some school districts are holding their elections in November. These districts include Era ISD, Sivells Bend ISD and Walnut Bend ISD.
In the NCTC district, candidates who filed for the college’s board of regents are Bill Ledbetter for Place 6 and Richard Haayen for Place 7.
In local hospital districts, candidates who filed for three seats on the Muenster Memorial Hospital Board are John Aytes and James Walterscheid.
Candidates filing for two places on the NTMC board include Janice Call, Don Wallace, Roane McLaughlin and Bhupinder Khaira.
