Texas Comptroller Susan Combs announced Wednesday that state sales tax revenue in June was $1.98 billion, up 15.2 percent compared to June 2011.
Cooke County’s total allocation payment for July will be $713,416.
“Sales tax revenue has increased for 27 consecutive months in Texas,” Combs said in a media release. “Strong business spending in industries such as manufacturing and oil and natural gas boosted the latest sales tax collections. Revenue from consumer spending in the retail trade and restaurant sectors also did well.”
The release said Combs will send July local sales tax allocations totaling $534.6 million to cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts. July sales tax allocations are up 12.7 percent compared to July 2011.
Cooke County’s allocation payment breakdown follows: Gainesville received $641,451, a 33 percent increase from July 2011 payments; Lindsay received $5,415, a 38 percent decrease from July 2011; Muenster received $43,493, a 77 percent increase from July 2011; Oak Ridge received $6,659, a 3 percent increase from July 2011; and Valley View received $16,397, a 106 percent increase from July 2011.
The sales tax figures represent monthly sales made in May.
