Commissioners approve Becker's resignation

Gainesville — Monday’s regular Cooke County commissioners’ court meeting included the approved resignation of Wayne Becker, agent for the Cooke County Texas AgriLife Extension Service since February 2003.

The resignation is effective Monday. Becker said Tuesday he has accepted an agronomist position with Nachurs Alpine Solutions, Inc., a liquid fertilizer company based in Marion, Ohio.

The new job, he explained, will keep him based in Cooke County providing technical support for new agricultural products.

“I’ve enjoyed so much about Extension,” Becker said Tuesday. “It’s been the people I’ve worked with, whether it’s people within Extension or the volunteers — or the farmers and ranchers and the Master Gardeners. Everyone’s been great to work with and I’m going to miss the interaction, day to day, of working with them in the community. But I’m also looking forward to my new position as well.”

Becker also said his current extension agent position will be filled after he leaves, though a hire may not be until later on in 2013.

“Someone will take it, but at this point, they’re not sure who yet,” he said. “It would take several months, I would imagine, before someone will.”
