Gainesville —
Youth living at the Gainesville State School are enjoying the holiday season.
In December, over 150 volunteers and guests have entered the facility bringing with them holiday cheer. Each of the 16 dorms has a sponsor who hosts a dorm Christmas party.
The One Heart Project volunteers are bringing gifts for youth and the Salvation Army brought candy and cookies.
Financial donations from around the state have been received by the Student Support Council. This Council is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation created to benefit the youth residing at the Gainesville State School.
These contributions help to insure that the residents have a blessed Christmas morning and a happy New Year.
In addition to volunteer led events, the boys are enjoying activities planned and directed by staff throughout the month.
This includes participating in a holiday sports festival, creating giant Christmas cards, decorating Christmas trees, singing in a Christmas carol contest, and attending a family Christmas event.
