A manslaughter case from November was included in the Cooke County Grand Jury’s most recent roster of indictments.
Edgar Mendez was indicted for the second-degree felony of manslaughter — having allegedly caused the death of Keverick Jackson on Nov. 26, while driving under the influence of alcohol. Court records indicated a drunken Mendez drove his vehicle off a road into a tree, resulting in Jackson’s death.
Other recent indictments:
Michael David Northcutt was indicted for credit/debit card abuse, a state jail felony.
Anthony Daniel Palazzolo was indicted for theft of property and burglary of a habitation, both state jail felonies.
Gregory Gene Parkhill was indicted for driving under the influence with a passenger under 15 years of age, a state jail felony.
Lawrence Frank Potts was indicted for intoxication assault, a third-degree felony.
Miguel Angeles Rojo was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony.
Jeffrey Alan Phillips Jr. was indicted for organized retail theft, a class-A misdemeanor.
Edgar Ivan Balderas-Suarez was indicted for tampering with government records, a third-degree felony.
Jerad Colt Barnes was indicted for identity theft and credit/debit card abuse, both state jail felonies.
Stephanie Lynn Beard was indicted for theft of property, a state jail felony.
Joshua Michael Bell was indicted for theft of property, an enhanced third-degree felony.
Christopher Lowell Black was indicted for burglary of a habitation, a second-degree felony.
Sarah Ashley Boswell was indicted for possession of a controlled substance, a state jail felony.
Enrique Chacon was indicted for possession of a controlled substance (between 200 and 400 grams), a first-degree felony.
Bobby Don Cope was indicted for driving while intoxicated (his third offense or more), a third-degree felony.

Texas adds more than 33K new jobs in April
Texas’ seasonally adjusted total nonfarm employment expanded by 33,100 jobs in April. Texas added 326,100 jobs from April 2012 to April 2013. The state’s annual growth rate in April stood at 3.0 percent, and has been above 2.5 percent since the beginning of 2012. Texas’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was unchanged in April at 6.4 percent. It remains well below the nation’s April unemployment rate of 7.5 percent.

National Transportation Safety Board considers lowering blood alcohol levels for drivers
Members of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) have announced new recommendations in their continued quest to end drunk driving.
During the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, alcohol is a common theme in many celebratory activities throughout the nation and state, and, therefore, many Texans unnecessarily die in vehicular accidents involving alcohol-impaired drivers.
This past week, National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) officials announced several new recommendations relating to drunk driving, including lowering the national blood alcohol content (BAC) standard from .08 to .05. -
