An update in the Gainesville Police Department’s investigation of a homicide has revealed the victim’s name. The deceased woman found inside a residence on Truelove Street in Gainesville Friday afternoon was identified as Linda Marie Barrett, 22, of Gainesville. As reported Tuesday, Gainesville Police Department Public Information Officer Bobby Balthrop said that at 4:30 p.m. Friday, officers received information from an individual concerning the death of an unknown female — said to be located inside a residence on Truelove Street. Officers responded to the area and located a possible suspect. The investigation led to the discovery of a deceased white female inside a residence. The suspect, identified as Juan Manuel Rodriguez Olivas, 30, was taken into custody and charged with murder. Olivas was placed in the Cooke County Jail with a bond set at $1,000,000. Barrett’s body was sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiner for an autopsy. Despite releasing Barrett’s name, Balthrop said additional details are kept unavailable due to an ongoing investigation.
