Gainesville —
North Texas Medical Center is hosting a blood drive on Thursday, Aug. 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1900 Hospital Blvd. in the classroom. For more information or to schedule an appointment time, contact Gayla Blanton at (940) 612-8373.
Potential blood donors can volunteer beginning at age 16 with a parent’s consent, and 17-year-olds can give independently. There is no upper age limit for giving. All donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good general health and present a photo ID each time. It’s also a good idea to eat a nutritious meal and drink plenty of water before giving blood. For more information about donor eligibility and to make an appointment, call Carter BloodCare at 1-800-366-2834 or visit carterbloodcare.org.
During August, all Carter BloodCare blood donors will automatically be entered to win tickets to professional sporting events, courtesy of Fox Sports Southwest.
Winners will be drawn from all Carter BloodCare territories. In addition, August blood donors will walk away with a Wendy’s coupon for a free Jr. Frosty. Visit greatamericangive.org for details.
