Cooke County commissioners approved the addition of a courthouse security guard during Monday’s regular meeting, with that employee’s start date still pending.
Sheriff Terry Gilbert said the part-time position — budgeted at $15,000 from the county’s fiscal year 2013 general fund — is still unadvertised and the hiring process hasn’t begun. Commissioners approved an amendment to the budget to allow for the new employee’s salary.
Other meeting highlights:

• Commissioners approved the purchase of a 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe, plus a budget amendment, in the amount of $30,000 for the sheriff’s department. Gilbert explained Monday that the purchase is to replace a county vehicle that was destroyed in a collision.
