Cooke County officials reported a recent pair of drug-related busts that produced arrests Thursday and Friday.
Sheriff Terry Gilbert explained in a release that on Thursday, the Cooke County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) — assisted by patrol deputies and agents of the Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Dallas field office — executed a search warrant in the 8700 block of East Highway 82 in Gainesville and arrested Lynn Thomas Wages Jr., a 43-year-old male.
DEU agents obtained a arrest and search warrant for Wages and his residence. Wages was located in Oak Ridge and placed under arrest. A glass methamphetamine pipe, along with a baggie of methamphetamine, was recovered from his person along with a 3-year-old male child from the vehicle.
Child Protective Services was contacted to care for the child. During the bust, DEU agents seized Wages’s vehicle, a 2001 Dodge 4X4 pickup truck, and proceeded to the residence on Highway 82. Deputies provided security for crime scene during the arrest and assisted in the search.
