Cooke County native Delania Trigg has been named managing editor of the Gainesville Daily Register, said Jim Perry, publisher of the newspaper. The change is effective with today's edition, Perry added. Trigg has been the assistant editor at the Register since 2010 and has also served as the Living section editor writing feature and news stories for the newspaper.
"I am pleased to have Delania heading up the coverage of our local news and events. She is very talented editor, focused and motivated to provide our readers with the very best local news product possible. She has many contacts throughout Cooke County and is familiar with what our readers want. This is definitely a win-win for our newspaper and the community," Perry said.
Trigg, who started working at the paper in 2006, has reported on various news and feature stories and has coordinated the Weekend Living sections for four years. While at The Register she has received accolades from the Cooke County Retired School Personnel organization, the United Way and other agencies for her in-depth local news coverage.
"I'm thrilled to be able to lead our editorial staff and to continue telling stories about the wonderful people of this county," Trigg said. "I'm also grateful for the guidance I received from my high school English teacher Jo Hinzman who encouraged me to study journalism."
Trigg, 46, has lived in Cooke County most of her life. She is a graduate of Texas Woman's University. She has three children — Dylan Robertson, Trevor Trigg and Kirsten Trigg and two grandsons — Aiden Robertson and Ryder Robertson.
