Valley View Chamber of Commerce hosts mixer

Valley View — The Valley View Chamber of Commerce held their year end mixer, banquet and awards ceremony on Monday night at Penelope’s on the square in Valley View.  They enjoyed appetizers, visiting and mingling at 6 p.m.

The meal sponsored by First State Bank and prepared by Penelope was crusted chicken, spaghetti Florentine, and salad.  Delicious Italian cream cupcakes were enjoyed for dessert.

Mrs. Laura Fuller, President of the Chamber gave the welcome.

She also mentioned the Chamber facebook is up and running and asked all to become friends on it.  The web site has been updated and residents may watch for more dates and events to be listed.   She also presented the following Excellence awards:

Citizen of the Year for 2012 was Sue Carr

Business of the Year was Penelope's

She also recognized the Keep Valley View Beautiful Organization for being a partner of the Chamber.

Certificates were presented to officers:  Vice President Denise Pearse, Secretary Sherrie Kuykendall, and Treasurer Kayla Barthold and Directors recognized were Kimberly Cain, Norman and Perlene Newton, Gayle Roane, Sue Carr, and Anita Thayer.

The following dates were announced:  Feb. 24 blood drive 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Valley View Methodist church for Pam Mitchell

March 9:  Era VFD Fish Fry

March 23:  Cooke County Rehab Team lunch and auction

March 24:  Chamber sponsored circus (tickets can be purchased at the Rustic Ranch at this time)

March 30:  Community Easter Egg Hunt with lunch at the park at 11 a.m.

April 6:  City wide Garage Sale

April 20:  Keep Valley View Beautiful Trash off

May 18:  ‘Movin Thru the Mud’

The Chamber membership drive is being held this month. The organization invites all businesses and individuals to join the chamber.  Chamber membership applications and payments may be made at the Rustic Ranch on the Valley View town square.
