Cooke County United Way (CCUW) officials announced a fundraising success level of nearly 75 percent toward the agency’s 2014 campaign goal of $400,000.
CCUW Executive Director Angie Hare said the campaign began in early September with 33 percent of the goal met — thanks to efforts from local “pacesetter” companies.
And following additional monies donated by Zodiac Seats US, the funds currently raised amount to 73 percent.
“Now it is up to the community of businesses and individuals to help push to thru the remaining 27 percent,” Hare said. “We can do it and we always have, as this is a wonderful generous community which truly understands the motto of ‘neighbor helping neighbor.’”
The 18 local beneficiary agencies are Abigail's Arms Family Crisis Center, American Red Cross/Texoma Chapter, Boy Scouts/Longhorn Chapter, Boys & Girls Club of Cooke County, Boys Baseball of Cooke County, CASA of North Texas, Cooke County Child Welfare Board, Cooke County Youth Fair, Girl Scouts/Texas Oklahoma Plains, Home Hospice of Cooke County, Meals on Wheels/Tx Sr Nutrition, Muenster Youth Council, Reading and Radio Resource, Substance Abuse Council, SW Diabetic Foundation/Camp Sweeney, Texoma Area Paratransit/TAPS, Texoma Sr. Citizen/Area Agency on Aging and VISTO.
During the beginning of the 2014 campaign, chairperson Rhonda Beam said those local agencies, and the people positively affected by campaign funds, are worth considering when deciding whether or not to donate to CCUW.
“I ask everyone to think of what United Way means to the little children at the Boys and Girls Club or your neighbor or grandparent who gets a hot meal from Meals on Wheels, or those affected by substance abuse who can receive help or the battered victim that Abigail's Arms can reach out and help,” she said. “And so many more that our United Way touches. So let's join hands and lend a hand to all those that need our help and depend on the Cooke County United Way.”
The 2014 Campaign Division Team includes Don Metzler, Billy Roessler, Ruthie and Matt Chalmers, Spencer Flint, Susan and Kevin Beall, Lois Essenburg and Johnny Leftwich, Brent Reed, Sarah Franklin and Jack Thies, Trice Henry, Debbie Hess, Amanda Riley, Lottie Jones and Craig Lamkin, Shari Kuykendall, Megan Anderle, Haley Galloway and Stacey Watson, Denise Brewer, Tricia West, Misty Dill, Jodi Kemp and Melissa Wilson, Tim Fogle and Perlene Newton.
