MUSKOGEE, Okla. — A local man has been indicted for embezzlement by the U.S. Eastern District Court in Muskogee, Okla. According to an indictment issued in March, Roy Francis Ewing III, 42, of Gainesville is accused of embezzling approximately $47,000 from WinStar World Casino while he was an employee at the gaming center. The offenses are believed to have happened between July 19, 2009 and December 10, 2009. Charges were filed against Ewing after an FBI investigation. WinStar is operated by the Chickasaw Nation which is based in Ada, Okla. Ewing has been charged in federal court because the alleged crime took place on Indian Trust Land. If he is convicted, Ewing faces up to 20 years in a federal prison and up to $1 million in fines.
