Lions Club golf tournament raises funds for programs
The 2014 Lions Club golf tournament held July 19 netted $6,031 as reported at the Wednesday meeting. The local nonprofit organization uses the funds to assist in community programs for the year including assisting those who have vision challenges.

Retiring teacher leaves legacy of dedication
When the Callisburg Elementary school bell rings on the first day of school this year, veteran teacher Carol Flint will be enjoying her first day of retirement after 33 years of teaching in the North Texas public schools. Prior to her announced retirement in June, Flint received one more accolade when she was honored as Callisburg Teacher of the Year.

CASA event raises more than $75K
CASA of North Texas, a local advocacy group for abused and neglected children, held its tenth annual “Cowboys for CASA” fundraiser on Friday, July 18 with a barbeque dinner, auction and concert by performers Jolie Holiday and Sonny Burgess.
