Corinth —
Through joint efforts, North Central Texas College and the University of North Texas have created a partnership designed to support the local youth. Donations from local community businesses help send children and teens to UNT athletic events.
The program is called “Basketball in a Bag.”
These events have been designed to encourage community involvement with children while offering kids a safe and entertaining evening. Donations for the event send the young children and teens to see a sporting event, receive goodies and a meal pack.
The next event will be during football season, and program officials have already to begun to look for partners.
The meal includes a hotdog, chips and drink. While the kids are there, they enjoy participating in all the activities that surround athletic events.
“This is a great opportunity for the children of our community, the businesses of our community and a wonderful opportunity for UNT and NCTC to work together for a great cause,” said NCTC Dean Roy Culberson.
During the first community outing, North Texas won in overtime over Florida Atlantic 66-57.
