Historic downtown Gainesville continues its spring and summer event season with tonight’s Art Walk.
Art Walk is set for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and includes art exhibitions, shopping and refreshments at stores along the city’s courthouse square.
Art endeavors on display will include paintings, drawings, photographs, ceramics and other media by area artists.
Participating merchants include Cahoots/Paige Davidson Studios, Otts Home Furnishings, Anana’s, Morton Museum of Cooke County, Amelia’s Attic, Wiese’s and Kinne’s Jewelers.
Tonight’s Art Walk is one of two Art Walk sessions planned for this year.
“In the past we’ve held them quarterly,” Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lynette Pettigrew said. “But since it isn’t as new, we’re going to hold one in the spring and another one in the fall.”
A new feature this year is an exhibit at Otts Home Furnishings by students in Jill Linnell’s art classes at Edison Elementary School.
Linnell was recently named Gainesville Independent School District Teacher of the Month, Pettigrew said.
