— More than 650 bicycle enthusiasts enjoyed the beautiful weather Saturday to participate in Denton’s Turkey Roll bicycle rally. This group of volunteers is cheering and offering refreshments to participants at the halfway point of their 68 mile ride on the square in Valley View. Ashley Pederson, a group leader for the Valley View portion of the rally said funds will be donated to the Apple Tree Project providing school supplies to needy children. The event is sponsored by Kiwanis with proceeds going to charity, this year marks the 30th anniversary of the event. Participants were given a choice of five different routes of varying length and difficulty. The longest ride is the 68 mile loop from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton through Valley View and back. The route crosses Lake Ray Roberts three times and includes back roads as well as highway cycling.
