Kiwanis pancake supper tonight

Staff report

Tonight is the Kiwanis Pancake Supper from 5-7 p.m. at the First State Bank Conference Center. The supper will include sausages, biscuits and gravy, coffee and juice.

The cost is $6 for the all-you-can-eat buffet and take home is available.

“This is our first attempt at a pancake supper,” said Gainesville Kiwanis Past-PresidentPatrick McCage. “They used to have them but we want to bring it back. This is one of the many fundraisers that we do. We have a lot of obligations we have made to organizations that we promised to assist. Part of the proceeds will go toward the Butterfield State Youth Theater. It’s a great program over there. Whatever we can do to help those youth and broaden their knowledge and skills in the youth theater is a plus.”

McCage said new Kiwanis President Don Wood came up with the idea for the pancake supper.

Manning the kitchen grills will be Ned Newman. McCage referred to Newman as “our official flapjack cooker.” He will be assisted by Kay James and a multitude of Kiwanis members and supporters.

McCage said if anyone would like to find out more about becoming a member of Kiwanis, just pull someone aside at the supper tonight.

“We’re always seeking additional help here in Gainesville,” he added. “We feel it will be well-received and attended.”
