Commissioners mark extension education week

County commissioners approved a proclamation citing this week as “Texas Extension Education Week.”

AgriLife Extension representatives Nelda Hudspeth, Angel Neu, Linda Roller, Susan Richardson and Wilma Richardson accepted the proclamation from County Judge John Roane.

Other meeting highlights:

• Commissioners approved these consent agenda items: payroll and related expenses; a letter of support for TCOG for obtaining an EPA grant for the Brownfield program; a contract with West-Clear Services for the Cooke County Sheriff’s Office; a contract with Woodbine Water Supply for the installation of two water lines on County Road 243; allowing the sheriff’s department to purchase five Chevy Tahoes and two pickup trucks (changed from original budget request); a commissioners’ court order setting county fire marshal reporting requirements; a cellular phone allowance for Darrell Hoberer, information technology director; cellular phone allowances for sheriff’s office employees Timothy Green, Eric Coberley, Kincy Lloyd, Daniel Harp, Matthew Maiden,Tyler Roy, Bill Dixon and Courtney Gregg; paying half the cost for employee flu shots; an nterlocal agreement between Texoma Council of Governments and Cooke County for the GIS Program; accepting the 2013 Sub-Recipient Award for the Homeland Security Grant in the amount of $20,591; the contract between Cooke County and Xerox for copy machine maintenance and supplies for a one-year term beginning Oct. 10, 2013, with four one-year optional renewals for the district judge’s office; the contract between Cooke County and Xerox for copy machine maintenance and supplies for a one-year term beginning Oct. 10, 2013, with four one-year optional renewals for the court compliance office; the contract between Cooke County EMS and Geo MedWaste of Texas for medical waste disposal services beginning Oct. 17, 2013, through Oct. 17, 2014; the contract between the Cooke County Sheriff’s Office and Geo MedWaste of Texas for medical waste disposal services beginning Oct. 17, 2013 through Oct. 17, 2014; the yearly renewal for vending services between Cooke County and Eric’s Snacks;the yearly contract renewal for vending services between Cooke County and Dr. Pepper Snapple; the amendment of the contract between Cooke County and Dr. Pepper Snapple Group to add a drink machine at the Cooke County Justice Center; an equipment lease agreement with Nortex Communications for network connectivity between the Cooke County Courthouse and EMS Station1; accepting a donation from North Central Texas College to the Cooke County Historical Commission in the amount of $250; the planned maintenance agreement between Cooke County and Southern Plains for generator maintenance; a voting machine rental agreement between Cooke County and Valley View ISD for the November 2013 election; the 2014 resolution for the Indigent Defense Grant Program; a contract with Woodbine Water Supply Corporation for the installation of water lines on county roads 262 and 223; allowing the Cooke County Sheriff’s Office to apply for a grant to install and maintain computers in patrol vehicles; the yearly contract renewal between Cooke County Child Welfare Services and Cooke County; internal quarterly audits for the following offices: Constable Pct. 1; Adult Probation; Environmental Health; County Attorney; and Justice of the Peace, Pct. 4; a policy of law enforcement professional liability insurance through Texas Association of Counties; a donation in the amount of $15 to the Cooke County Library for research from Leah and Stephen Morrision; a donation in the amount of $20 to the Cooke County Library from an anonymous donor; allowing the Cooke County Library to apply for the Foundation for Rural Service Grant; a donation in the amount of $12.05 to the Cooke County Library from anonymous donors; allowing the Jail use funds for camera purchase to be used for van purchase; approve the request that the Cooke County auditor audit all offices that will have to complete a Chapter 59 annual report as required by the Code of Criminal Procedures Article 59.06; nd the contract between Cooke County and Schindler Elevator for maintenance on the Cooke County Annex Elevator.
